Colors Wine Fest 2025: Detroit’s Toast to Culture, Community & Resilience
~On September 20th, Detroit gathered at Featherstone Garden to celebrate something bigger than wine. The Colors Wine Fest, presented by The Black Sip, was a day rooted in culture, resilience, and community — a space where every pour told a story and every brand represented excellence within the Black and Brown beverage industry.
Over 100 guests joined us in honoring the creators behind Detroit’s growing wine and spirits scene. This year’s lineup featured Motu Viget, Le Grande Cuvée, Dai One, Phyllis Wine, Opulence Wines, Grandcru, Cabresto Tequila, and ROAR Beer — Detroit’s only Black-owned brewery. Each brand brought their unique flavor and story, creating a tasting experience that was both refined and deeply meaningful.
The festival was the culmination of a year-long journey of individual tastings and collaborations with each winemaker, leading up to this collective celebration. It was a moment to bring together everyone who had poured into The Black Sip’s mission throughout the year — literally and figuratively.
Guests enjoyed live music, Detroit’s favorite Flavorzz Food Truck, curated charcuterie from Blissful Charcuterie, refreshing smoothies from A Living Experience, and an immersive Painting with a Twist art experience. Influencers like DonnyLB, Socially Chrissy, and Cooking with the Connors helped share the story across Detroit, amplifying the message that supporting Black and Brown makers isn’t just about what’s in your glass — it’s about community, representation, and legacy.
For me, Colors Wine Fest is personal.
It represents the culmination of The Black Sip’s purpose — to bridge culture and wine, to make learning about Black-owned brands approachable, and to celebrate the makers who are rewriting what luxury and craftsmanship look like in this industry.
As I reflect a month later, I’m filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the winemakers who trusted the vision, the attendees who showed up with enthusiasm, and the city of Detroit for proving that when we come together, we create more than a festival — we create a movement.
Here’s to the next pour, the next story, and the next celebration.
Until then, keep sipping with purpose.
